Today you can visit the nicely
restored Castillo de San Felipe de Lara. Within its wall is the over 400 year old Torreon de Bustamante. From the cannon embattlements you can admire the view of the Lago
Izabal to the south as far as the Sierra de las Minas or imagine the
galleons sailing upstream in the afternoon breeze and setting anchor in the
San Felipe bay where today you're more likely to see sailing yachts from
all over the world.

offer “Sunset Sailing” tours around the lake which includes sailing past
the fort just like the pirates did many years ago….You can also visit the
“lookouts” on top top of the hill at our rubber plantation from where
the pirates were spotted as they entered the Golfete sailing towards the
Fort of San Felipe.
