Come Ride with Us At Hacienda Tijax!!!!!
For
those of you who enjoy a leisurely ride on horse back we can organize
rides of up to six persons on our rather tame horses. The horses are well kept and fed and are suited to the steep and
narrow trails.
 On the ride
which usually last some two to three hours you will enjoy rather
spectacular views of the surrounding valleys and the Rio Dulce-Lago de
Izabal Basin. The ride goes along a crest bordering the rubber plantation
where you can dismount and observe the tapping process Monday through
Saturdays. The Rubber
Plantation sits on a ridge which is the highest point in the middle of the
valley hence the panoramic views are wonderful in every direction. We can also arrange for all day excursions on horse back to the
nearby rivers where we picnic and swimm in the pools of the Sejá river. On this longer excursion a Teak plantation is visited as
well. Long pants and boots
are recommended and a hat is absolutely necessary. Bring bug repellant and
bottled water too!
We offer you the opportunity to visit our 500 acre eco-farm and nature reserve to learn about our reforestation projects, nature and the
unique environment of the Rio Dulce area.
Our tours include excursions to rubber and teak plantations, scenic
viewpoints of Lake Izabal, the Rio Dulce and the surrounding mountain
ranges. Ride through beautiful forests and jungle and swim in the
naturally
clear, deep pools of the River Seja.
We have healthy, well trained horses for all ages and riding abilities.
Horseback riding experience is not necessary. Our guide, "Don Memo" is
a professional horseman and well versed in the fauna and flora to give
you a safe, enjoyable and informative tour.
Choose from either of the two tours available daily from 8 am to 3 pm:
Tour #1
Is approximately a two and one half hour ride through the
Nature
Reserve visiting mangroves, rainforests, the rubber plantation and
scenic
viewpoints of the Rio Dulce Area.
Tour # 2
Is a half-day excursion via mangroves, rainforests, rubber and
teak
plantations, forests and scenic viewpoints to the River Seja for a 1
hour
swim in the clear river pools ....Includes refreshments and fruit
snacks....
