Hacienda
Tijax is located in Fronteras, Izabal, close to the bridge crossing over
the Rio Dulce. This is a natural stopover for "Maya Route "
travelers.
You should get to Rio Dulce at the town of Fronteras and ask for "Tijax Express". There
we'll send your boat transportation without to get to Tijax.

How
to get here?
From
Guatemala City: There are three
major bus companies which go to Fronteras: Litegua and Fuente Del Norte
are the cheaper options (around US$ 6) and Linea Dorada offers a more
luxurious service (around US$ 20). Another option is to take a shuttle
bus from one of the travel agencies. (around US$ 30). Aproximately a 5

From
Antigua: You can take a shuttle with Atitrans that will pick you
up at your hotel and drop you off at the Tijax Express office in Fronteras
(around US$ 30). You can also take a local bus to Guatemala City and continue
from there. Aproximately a 5 1/2 hour trip. Recommended travel agencies
to visit around Antigua are Sin Fronteras,
Horizontes Travel, Rainbow Travel, STA.
From Puerto Barrios: You can take any bus along the Carretera
Atlantico (Atlantic Highway) and get off at La Ruidosa junction. From
there you can catch a local bus north to Fronteras. (Local buses stop
running after dark.). Aproximately a 1 hour trip. You can get more info
from Oguatours or "Transportes el Chato".
From Flores, Peten: Various
bus companies run buses from Flores to Fronteras, such as Fuente Del Norte
and Linea Dorada. Aproximately a 4 hour trip.
From
Livingston: Water taxis (Tiburoneras)
can be found at the municipal dock which will bring you to Fronteras.
The water taxis will drop you off directly in front of the Tijax Express
office in Fronteras. Aproximately a 1 hour trip. Visit the Happy

Guatemala is easy to get to by air. Ask your travel agent for more information
about daily flights from cities in the United States, Europe, and elsewhere.
You can also visit Taca Airlines, Iberia
Airlines or Tikal Jets.
We
have land and water access. Boat shuttles run out from Fronteras all day
and a twenty minute walk will bring you from the center of town straight
into Hacienda Tijax.
If
you drive to Fronteras you can leave your car at a parking lot in front
of the Tijax Express office or (if you have a four-wheel-drive vehicule
and are arriving before dark) you can drive to the entrance of Hacienda
Tijax which is on the right side of the road approximately one mile past
the bridge and follow the signs from there.
Once
you reach Fronteras, visit our Tijax Express waterfront office. At Tijax
Express you will find information for your travel plans and we can arrange
tours to local points of interest or shuttles to Guatemala City, Antigua
and Copan in Honduras. We offer help for travelers interested in other
Eco-projects throughout Guatemala and the Rio Dulce.
